Automat Steels

Automaton steels are steels with low machining costs, usually due to broken chips in the rapid metal removal process. Due to their easy machinability, these steels are defined as the most suitable steels for machining operations such as longitudinal and face turning, threading, drilling and reaming on multi-spindle and revolver lathes.

Spring Steels

It is expected that a spring has the ability to change its shape in the elastic field under any load and to return to its original state with the removal of the load. At this point, the springiness of the material used in the construction of the bow gains importance. Spring steel is the steel material used to make various springs.

Among the properties required from steel materials, machinability is important. In the manufacturing stage, high cutting speeds and the associated processing time, tool life, good surface finish, lower cutting forces are directly related to material quality, among other factors. Automaton steels have been developed to ensure this quality. Automaton steels are steels with a carbon content ranging between 0.07-0.60%, sulfur content between 0.15% and 0.40%, and phosphorus content between 0.07-0.10%. Although sulfur and phosphorus are tried to be reduced in all other grades, they are especially added to automaton steels because they improve machining capability. These added elements provide metallic brittleness in the material, resulting in the formation of short brittle chips. In addition, the addition of sulfur and phosphorus has a lubricating effect, increasing part strength and providing a clean surface.  Automaton steels can also be alloyed with lead. The added lead does not change the mechanical properties of the steel but increases its lubricity.  Usage Areas and Features of Automat Steels:  Automat steels are used in lathes and automaton machines that can produce fast and mass production; High cutting tool life suitable for the machining speed of the machine, Good chip brittleness that enables easy machining of workpieces and easy movement on the machine, Very low cutting forces requirement, Good surface quality on the machined part, Narrow dimensional tolerances.  As a result of its high level of processing capability in the sum of these features; It is used in different types of fasteners for the automotive industry, in industries producing machinery and equipment and in the construction sector, in the production of construction elements, in industries producing precision mechanical parts (optical devices and measuring devices).
